This landscape painting depicts Bray Head in Wicklow on a windy, changeable day. I have returned to this captivating view multiple times, as the headland's unusual shape presents a unique challenge. The seafront of Bray is a dynamic environment, where light and weather conditions shift rapidly, completely transforming the headland in just a few minutes. This constant change keeps the scenery fresh and engaging, making it a favourite and challenging spot for plein air painting.

This piece was created during a plein air event organised by the Signal Arts Centre, allowing me to revisit a beloved subject.

I also have a smaller version of this bray head scene, painted on a windy day with bright sunshine, which gives the headland a much friendlier atmosphere. The shifting light dramatically alters the mood of this place, transforming earthy browns into darker hues, which is one of the many reasons I find working here so rewarding.

Artwork Details

I use artist grade materials for all my work to guarantee colour vibrancy over time. All paintings are varnished to protect the work using a satin varnish which results in a semi gloss finish.
