This piece was painted on location (plein air) at the upper lake in Glendalough. As you skirt the edge of the upper lake you look across at the valley wall which is the track of the famous Spinc walk. I'm really fascinated by painting these cliff walls, they are a challenge to do in winter as there is little to no sunlight that will hit this side of the valley no matter what time of day. Its a beautiful area of the Glendalough upper lake with the winter trees giving it a ghostly feel. The voices of walkers travel from the cliff crests down over the the lake to you as well as calls of deer, goats and birds of prey. Special place to paint and will be certainly returning again here.
