"Depot #2" is part of a conceptual series exploring the landscape through time. The work is based on two plein air paintings of the view looking down the Glenealo valley towards the upper lake in Glendalough. It's a view many hikers in the area will know well, the Miners village is at the bottom of the steep zig zag track which then leads on to the lake.
Depot is a reference to the practice of laying stores or depots along long march routes through unknown landscapes in the Antarctic in the early 20th centuries. It's a deliberate reference to a landscape that is now uncertain just like the unknown places in the early 20th century. This will be one of many works in this series exploring these ideas of time and the landscape.

Artwork Details
I use artist grade materials for all my work to guarantee colour vibrancy over time. All paintings are varnished to protect the work using a satin varnish which results in a semi gloss finish.
Original paintings come framed unless otherwise stated.
